The founder of the MeToo movement says the campaign she began more than a decade ago is now "unrecognisable" to her. In a speech at a recent TEDWomen talk in Palm Springs, Tarana Burke lamented the media backlash against victims, which has caused many to see the campaign as a witch hunt. "Suddenly, a movement to center survivors of sexual violence is being talked about as a vindictive plot against men," she said. Burke said the original intention of MeToo was to start an action plan to do something about the sexual violence she saw in her community.
