"Io sto con la sposa" ("On the Bride's Side"), a documentary produced with the help of crowdfunding, has been selected as one of the five finalists for the David di Donatello Award, a prestigious Italian film prize. The movie follows five undocumented Syrian and Palestinian refugees fleeing the war in Syria. They travel as a fake wedding party complete with a bride in a white gown to avoid detection and arrest, and hope to make it all the way to Sweden. The awards ceremony will be held June 12.
