"Without migrants, we would be lost." Tito Boeri, president of Italy's social security institute (INPS), stated it just that simply when presenting INPS's annual report to the Italian Parliament. He argued that if Italy were to close its borders by 2040, it would result in the country being almost 40 billion euros poorer and unable to afford its welfare system. It's well past time we realize that we need migrants just as much as they need us.
