Ideologies defining nationality as something determined by ethnicity or bloodline deny millions of people the right to citizenship, a UN expert has said. In her first report to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, UN Special Rapporteur on racism E. Tendayi Achiume, Special Rapporteur on racism highlighted that the millions of stateless people worldwide are often members of minority groups, victimized by deeply entrenched discrimination despite often living in a country for generations, if not centuries.
