In his Human Rights Comment of August 28, 2014, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks tackles the issue of missing persons in Europe. He shows that “tens of thousands of persons remain missing and still haunt Europe decades after the demise of dictatorships and the end of armed conflicts.” He lists five priorities that must be tackled by member states to solve the problem of missing persons in Europe. His remarks come in the context of the upcoming International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance.
