Despite the fact that they’re a large minority group in the Netherlands, Dutch Moroccans should not be checked by the police more frequently. It’s not effective, it doesn’t help capture more criminals and it’s racism. This is evidenced in the new short film "Mohammed Investigates Ethnic Profiling" by Blikopeners.
The way people often argue is as follows: 'Moroccans' are criminal more often and that’s why checking them more frequently is effective policing. The result of this way of thinking is that non-criminal Dutch Moroccan youths (93 percent versus 7 percent suspicious youths) often get in contact with the police. This is something that has not gone unnoticed by Mohammed Anouar and his friends from Rotterdam. In the film, 'Mo' goes looking for strong arguments against ethnic profiling. "In a constitutional state, you cannot say that the innocent should suffer for the guilty, can you?’"
