The Higher Regional Court in Munich ruled on Wednesday to sentence to life in prison a German neo-Nazi. Beate Zschaepe was a member of the National Socialist Underground, whose members killed eight Turks, a Greek and a German policewoman. These killings were the most violent attacks in Germany since the Red Army Faction’s two-decade killings, which left at least 34 dead. Zschaepe’s defense team had asked the court to convict her of the lesser charges of arson and robbery, but she was convicted of 10 counts of murder and handed the harshest possible sentence under German law.
