Dutch Minister of Justice and Security Stef Blok has revoked the citizenship of four jihadis who have joined a terrorist organisation abroad. They have also been declared 'unwanted foreigners', meaning that they can no longer legally travel to the Netherlands or to any other Schengen state. This is the first time citizenship has been revoked. Revocation of Dutch citizenship for reasons of state security became possible only after a law was passed in March 2017. A judge will still have to assess the legality of Blok's decision.
