Kosovars and Mongolians who, after requesting asylum in the Netherlands, decide they want to return voluntarily will no longer receive a repatriation payment from the Dutch government, which can reach 1,750 euros. Klaas Dijkhoff, the state secretary for security and justice, decided this because the regulation was being used improperly. Recent evidence shows that an increasing number of Kosovars come to the Netherlands simply to have a chance to receive the repatriation payment, even though they know they have no chance to get asylum.
