Giulio Regeni, the Cambridge student researching trade unions in Egypt, was found dead nine days after his disappearance on January 25, 2016. His body, showing signs of torture, was found on the side of the highway connecting Cairo and Alexandria. Ever since, Egyptian authorities have denied any involvement by the state. But as a recent article from the daily newspaper Espresso suggests, Regeni's name might have been forwarded to the National Security by one of its contacts in the unions. This new revelation could lead to proof that the Egyptian state was involved in Regeni's death.
