This week saw the beginning of a new trial for inciting hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation, in which the defendant is accused of pelting a Lithuanian musician openly identifying himself with the LGBT community with eggs during a school concert. The victim was admitted to the hospital following the incident. The case law on the incitement of hatred is still developing in Lithuania, and until recently almost all such cases saw the accused go free. In this case, the accused came to court sporting a leather vest with a clearly visible emblem of Nazi Germany - an eagle bearing a swastika.
