A study by the Lithuanian National Union of Students revealed that 37% of students encounter psychological violence and 5% encounter sexual harassment in academia. The most common forms of psychological violence were: unpleasant sarcasm (25%), ridicule or humiliation (19%) and repeating negative remarks (19%). Meanwhile, half of respondents had experienced sexist jokes (56%) and noticed lustful gazes (44%). Ninety-one percent of all students did not report their negative experiences, fearing that this would affect their studies (37%) and thinking that no one would care (34%).
