A former Polish prime minister, Hanna Suchocka, and Krzysztof Drzewiecki, PhD in law, will no longer be members of the Venice Commission. As Witold Waszczykowski, the Polish minister of foreign affairs, explained, the lawyers "were not dismissed, but their terms of office came to an end." The Venice Commission confirmed that the official notice was released by the Polish government, although the new members have not yet been named. Suchocka, the first president of the Venice Commission, has worked there since 1991. Of her removal, she simply said, "That is the government’s decision."
