The latest Monitor on Women Professors was presented in Utrecht on November 19. The monitor shows that the share of women professors has slightly increased to 17.1 percent in the last few years in the Netherlands. At this pace, only at the halfway point of this century will there be real gender equality in the academic world. According to the Dutch National Network of Women Professors (LNVH), the divide cannot be explained by a lack of qualified female senior university lecturers. Roughly 83 percent of all chairs that open up can without any trouble be filled by a woman, according to LNVH.
