The list of European Union member states withdrawing support for the United Nations global pact on migration is growing. The latest country to say it will stay away is Slovakia, joining Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland and Italy. The pact, called the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, is set to be formally approved in December 2018 in Morocco. The agreement aims to protect the safety, dignity and human rights and fundamental freedoms of all migrants, regardless of their migratory status.
