The authoritarian past resonated again in Hungary after a pro-government news site 888.hu published an article listing '12 journalist who are George Soros’s propagandists'. The Association Of Hungarian Journalists (MÚOSZ) condemned the publication, saying that it echoes the antidemocratic period of Hungary when stigmatizing media workers were part of daily routine. MÚOSZ said the article offered no evidence when claiming the listed journalists had 'any connection to George Soros'. The list included correspondents for media outlets like Reuters, Politico, Bloomberg and ZDF.
