On August 22, HRMI representative Jūratė Guzevičiūtė attended a hearing at the District Court of Trakai Region and, during the trial for inciting hatred, gave expert evidence on freedom of expression, its restrictions, also what hate speech and hate crimes were. The defendant was on trial for her comment to one news portal's article, publicly pressing for the physical destruction of a group of people based on their sexual orientation. The court did not see any hatemongering in her statement "they need to be destroyed, as soon as possible" or others she made and acquitted her.
