A day after the deadline given by the European Commission,
the Polish government sent its 12-page "exhaustive" legal response to Brussels
refusing the "groundless" EU complaints regarding its constitutional court
reform. Warsaw claims the "primary goal of reforming the justice system is in
line with European standards and answers social expectations." The EC earlier
this summer started to look into a possible rule of law infringement procedure, threatening Poland with possible sanctions and fines within the EU.
The government said it is ready for a dialogue if its free of political
elements.
