Recognized refugees do not abuse the system that enables them to bring family members to join them in the Netherlands, according to the Dutch Advisory Committee on Migration Affairs. The committee, which issued written advice on family reunification last week, found no specific indications of abuse or fraud, and it could not say if the tighter measures that have been implemented in the Netherlands in recent years were necessary to deter fraud. In the meantime, a number of these measures have already been reversed because they were not in line with European and international law.
