With the Baltic Pride March for Equality, which will take place in Vilnius on 8 June, fast approaching, T. Raskevičius, member of the Vilnius City Council and a human rights activist, proposed a Council resolution welcoming the LGBT community. The resolution states that the march “holds great significance to LGBT+ people, to citizens of Vilnius, whose children and relatives belong to said community, to citizens who support the ideas of equality, diversity and non-discrimination”. The resolution failed to pass, even though more than half of the Council did not take part in the vote.
