The president of the General Council of the Judiciary has excluded Rights International Spain from its courses for judges on human rights and transitional justice. These are specialized courses offered by RIS and other NGOs that have been taking place for several years. This year they will be offered again but with an explicit veto for RIS. Throughout 2015, RIS, along with other judges associations, has raised several complaints to the UN for the lack of independence of the judiciary in Spain. One of these associations, Judges for Democracy, has appealed the exclusion of RIS.
