Rome has approved civil unions for all couples, including same-sex couples and foreigners. After months of polemics, the resolution was voted through by 32 of the 43 council members. Inscription in the official register could be joined by a ceremony. Among the rights enjoyed by entering a civil union is the guarantee of being able to access information on the health status of a partner. "Rome is today launching a signal: love is equal for everybody," said Mayor Ignazio Marino.
