According to the Gender Equality Index 2017, published by the European Gender Equality Institute, out of 28 EU countries Lithuania managed to rise from 22nd to 20th place between 2012 and 2017. Still, it is disconcerting that, compared to the EU average, there are negative trends in 5 out of 6 main areas, namely, economic situation, achievements in education, time management in caring for children or the household, influence in decision making and status in the healthcare system. Only things related to employment appear to be going up.
