Following last year’s introduction of new criteria for universities in Hungary, Central European University announced on Thursday that it will move its degree programs to Vienna beginning next academic year if no deal is reached with the government by December. As part of its smear campaign against American-Hungarian businessman George Soros, the government has been delaying signing off on paperwork acknowledging that CEU has fulfilled all criteria to operate in Hungary. “We’re being forced out of a country that’s been our home for 26 years,” university president Michael Ignatieff said.
