A Spanish court has opened proceedings against Moroccan police officers who entered the Spanish side of the Melilla border on June 18 and beat and tortured migrants (and, most likely, asylum seekers) trying to enter Spain. The Spanish Civil Guard officers saw everything and did not do anything to protect the migrants, even though they had crossed the border fence and were under Spanish jurisdiction. The investigation has been opened after the Spanish NGOs Andalucía Acoge, PRODEIN and SOS Racismo lodged a complaint, attaching a video that shows the police brutality.
