Open Society Foundations (OSF), the charity founded by George Soros, has taken Hungary to the European Court of Human Rights over the Orbán government's crackdown on NGOs, referred to as the "Stop Soros" laws in the media. OSF decided to leave its Budapest office following the Hungarian government's long-standing smear campaign against the organization and its founder. The Soros laws bar civil society organizations from helping asylum or migration cases. OSF argues that the legislation infringes freedom expression and association.
