Workers from the Uljanik
shipyard are waiting for their paychecks again. This happened first in January 2018, when a strike was averted at the last minute
after the Government intervened and guarantees of 96 million euro were activated. However, this time no agreement has been reached. Workers
have started to strike and are demanding the resignation of the board, according to internet site
Radnička prava (Workers’ rights). They started protesting last week in
Pula, where the shipyard is located, and on Monday, they travelled to Zagreb, where they were
joined by supporters who protested with them in front of government buildings. They have also met the Croatian prime minister, who told them that the Government is
working on a solution. He promised that the workers would receive their paychecks by the end of the week.
