Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Nils Muižnieks welcomes progress on asylum in Switzerland, but cautioned that the most vulnerable still need better protection. He applauded the new asylum law, which grants free legal aid during the entire procedure and should lead to faster and more just resolutions. But Muižnieks said he was unimpressed with Swiss authorities' treatment of children. "I call on the Swiss authorities to stop detaining migrant children arriving at Swiss international airports. Children, with or without their families, do not belong in detention," he said.
