A terminally ill former lecturer has gone to court so that he may be allowed to receive assistance to die at home surrounded by his family. Noel Conway, 67, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, an incurable condition, in November 2014. Assisted dying is prohibited in the UK and voluntary euthanasia is considered murder under English and Welsh law. Conway hopes the court will establish criteria and safeguards to allow terminally ill adults to make their own decisions about ending their lives.
