The independent media watchdog Carta di Roma has denounced Italian newspaper excesses - that is, the use of inappropriate, generalizing and racist language - after the Brussels terrorist attacks. In fact, Libero and il Giornale published aggressive headlines, including "If they are not bastards" and "Drive Islam out off our house." These offensive comments violate the ethical framework of journalism and, above all, promote hatred and hate speech in the society. The recent tragic attacks must not in any way lead us to wrong associations and dangerous shortcuts.
