After the unprecedented "anti-terrorism" raid that took place some days ago, the municipality of Rome closed down the Baobab transit center for refugees on December 6. The center was completely run by volunteers who decided to step in in place of negligent authorities. The center played a fundamental role in providing a safe haven for people on the move. It is not clear what will happen now to the many people who found shelter at Baobab. An appeal asks authorities to guarantee proper structures to welcome migrants in transit.
