The US has asked the Netherlands to resettle two detainees from the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. President Obama wanted to close Guantanamo, but Congress won't let him admit freed detainees to the US. The Dutch minister of foreign affairs, Bert Koenders, has said that the Netherlands is considering the request. It is unknown who the prisoners are or what nationality they have. Admitting former prisoners from 'Gitmo' is a delicate issue that the majority in the Dutch House of Representatives has so far been opposed to. Other European countries have already resettled former detainees.
