EU Commissioner Frans Timmermans is worried about the future of European cooperation. Monday night, in a lecture in Amsterdam, he stated that Europe was battling a "perfect storm" as the refugee crisis so closely follows the euro crisis. Timmermans noted that for the first time in his conscious experience, he thinks the European project may well go wrong. "There are so many things coming together that strike at the heart of our society, I don't think it inconceivable anymore we may prefer confrontation rather than cooperation," he said.
