The Dutch government has stated that Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Tugrul Türkes will not be welcome in Apeldoorn on July 11 for a commemoration of the failed coup in Turkey a year ago. Türkes wanted to be a guest at a memorial of the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD). However, the government does not desire a visit by a Turkish lawmaker to the Netherlands at this time. According to the government, it is not appropriate that Türkes or any other member of the Turkish government makes a visit, given "the current circumstances in the bilateral relations between our countries."
