Two out of three websites of health care institutions, such as home care and mental health care, are not safe. This was reported by the Open State Foundation, which researched over 22,000 health care institutions. Sensitive information such as repeat prescriptions, identification numbers and referrals could therefore fall into the wrong hands. The national patient federation in the Netherlands is shocked by the findings. "You should expect that sensitive data about patients is safely stored. This turns out not to be the case. That is terrible," says its director, Dianda Veldman.
