Late on the night of November 11, the Roman suburb of Tor Sapienza was the scene of a violent riot against a migrant shelter there. The attack was focused directly against the center itself, after previous nights had seen only occasional rocks thrown or garbage bins set afire. Riot police were called to the scene to defend the center, and hard clashes were reported between rioters and the police. Residents in the working-class neighborhood blame the migrants for rising levels of crime in the area.
