Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, announced a new technology with the promise to give back control to people over their data. The new service, called Solid, aims to put your personal information from the services you use in one place, so users can decide what is shared with which service or site. Berners-Lee argues that Solid was born out of need because the current model of handing over lots of data to many different online services has turned out to be bad at serving people's needs. Solid is an open source project.
