Since the Europe’s data protection regulation (GDPR) came into force in May 2018, Facebook may be fined if the recent profile hack effecting 50 million users is found out to be in breach of GDPR. And though Facebook claims it fixed the way hackers gained access to the profiles of users, many questions remain, for example whether services like Tinder, Instagram or Spotify were affected, since they all use Facebook login to give access to their users. The Irish Data Protection Commission says less than 10 percent of the 50 million are believed to be European accounts.
