Vilnius Regional Court has ruled that the wiretapping of BNS (a news agency) employees by law enforcement personnel was unjustified. The court allowed the appeals of 10 current and former BNS employees and quashed the decision of Vilnius City District Court. According to the judges, the permission to wiretap was given too hastily, just a few days after the pre-trial investigation had begun. Last year, the District Court permitted wiretapping upon the request of the Special Investigation Service and the Prosecutor General's Office. The events of 2013 are discussed in more detail here.
