The situation of families in the Bela-Jezova detention facility for migrants is so serious that it violates the EU Conventions on Human Rights and on the Rights of the Child, says Anna Sabatova, the Czech ombudsman. According to her officers, the refugees have worse conditions than prisoners. "I demand an assurance from the interior minister, that the situation will improve dramatically," she said. "The detainees are pulled from bed every night by policemen wearing helmets and balaclavas just to re-count them. If the kids are asleep, the parents must make them wake up and stand up."
