Fifteen Lithuanian NGOs and experts joined to form "Mental Health 2030," a coalition seeking to enshrine the principles of openness, transparency and human rights in the country's mental health system. The coalition supports widening the range of mental health services available, with priority given to the development of effective community-based psychosocial services. The main obstacles to these services are the flaws in the mental health system carried over from the Soviet era, due to which the system is (disproportionately) dominated by institutional care and drug treatment.
