The Dutch have an increasingly positive attitude towards lesbians, homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders. Figures that relate to the acceptance of homosexuality have been improving for decades. Ninety-two percent of the Dutch are of the opinion that gays should lead the life they desire. But as soon as gays start kissing in front of them, acceptance rates drop. A new report from the Netherlands Institute for Social Research points out that a third of Dutch people take offense at seeing kissing gays in public spaces, as opposed to 12 percent when it concerns kissing heterosexuals.
