A Madrid court has ruled that the Madrid Council of Health discriminated against a lesbian couple on the basis of their sexual orientation. One of the women was receiving artificial insemination treatment, which was cut short by an order of the ministry in November of 2014 that excludes single women and lesbians from this free treatment provided by the public health service. Following the latest ruling, Madrid will offer this treatment to any woman who requires it, but it is still necessary that the order be struck down so that it is not applied in any other autonomous community.
