An attempt by Centre-right MEPs to restrict EU funds for NGOs in addition to watering down transparency requirements for corporate and government lobbyists failed in the EP. According to the German Green author of the resolution on "transparency, accountability and integrity in the EU institutions", the amendments amounted to an attempt to weaken civil society and roll back efforts to shed light on who lobbies the EU.The resolution, passed with 386 votes in favour, 161 against, calls for clear and strict codes of conduct for all EU institutions and for improved access to legislative documents.
