A recent decision by the Bundesgerichtshof, Germany’s highest court for penal and civil cases, has strengthened freedom of assembly. The judges ruled in favor of a Jesuit priest who intended to demonstrate with other religious people on the property of the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, right in front of an accommodation center for refugees. The airport company tried to forbid this. The religious people have been campaigning against refugee detention centers for over 20 years.
