This week, the Council of Europe (CoE) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) discussed the role of human rights in sports. During the discussion, they underlined the importance of several sports conventions, like the Anti-Doping Convention, the Convention on Spectator Violence and the Safety, Security and Service at Sports Events Convention. The aim of the meeting was to ensure closer cooperation in promoting respect for human rights in sports. Finally, both parties agreed to draft a memorandum of understanding to set out the areas of cooperation in detail.
