Bulgaria declared a national day of mourning on June 23 for the victims of the heavy storms and flooding that devastated the Varna region, killing at least 12 people and causing extensive damage. Many events were postponed because of the tragedy, including the "Sofia Pride 2014" festival, which was planned for June 21.
