The Dutch cabinet doesn't want to force businesses by law to make them accessible to the disabled. "The cabinet shares the principle that there should be a progressive, gradual realization of the general accessibility to people with a disability or chronic illness," State Secretary Van Rijn writes. Among other things, he is considering the removal of doorsteps and the instruction of staff. Whether these measurements are sufficient, must be determined by a judge upon request. The House of Representatives discussed the Dutch implementation of the UN Disabilities Convention on January 14.
