In a report by the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary about the independence and the accountability of the judiciary, 97 percent of Dutch judges say they have not been under inappropriate pressure to take a decision in a case in a specific way in the last two years. Many European countries show similar percentages. It goes for 99 percent of judges in Denmark and Ireland. Judges in Latvia (64%), Albania (67%) and Spain (80%) felt pressured the most. In terms of independence, Dutch judges award themselves a mark of 9.3 on a scale from 1 to 10.
