During Labor Day festivities in Rome on May 1, organizers of the campaign “Ero Straniero - L’Umanità che fa bene” (literally, “I was a foreigner. The good humanity”), was on the street asking people to sign a popular law proposal. They want a new migration policy in Italy, one that is more respectful of human rights, but also affords better integration of immigrants and more legal guarantees for asylum seekers. The campaign is supported by everyone from the Italian Radical Emma Bonino to organizations like CILD, ARCI, A Buon Diritto or Caritas Italia.
